When you compare a wicker vs aluminum sofa, you face a choice between traditional woven looks and modern metal durability. Both options here offer two-seat seating and Olefin fabric cushions for outdoor comfort. The main difference lies in the frame construction. One uses a powder-coated steel base with a wicker backrest, while the other relies on thickened aluminum for a lighter, more rigid structure. You need to weigh weight, material feel, and structural support for your specific patio space.

Wicker vs Aluminum Sofa Specs
Frame Material
You get a clear choice in construction materials. Product A, the Natural Expressions loveseat, lists its frame material as powder-coated steel in the key specs, while the attributes section identifies the overall material as wicker. This combination gives you a sturdy steel core with a woven aesthetic. Product B, the Aoxun sofa, uses aluminum for its frame, described as 3mm thickened aluminum with a heat-treated wood grain coating. Aluminum is naturally lighter and resists rust without needing a powder coat. If you prefer the classic look of woven rattan, Product A delivers that style. If you want a modern metal frame that is inherently rust-proof, Product B is the better option.
Weight
The weight difference is significant and affects how you move these pieces. Product A weighs 107 pounds. This heft comes from the steel frame and the substantial cushioning. It is stable but difficult to relocate frequently. Product B weighs only 40 pounds. This light weight is due to the aluminum construction. You can easily move Product B to rearrange your patio layout or store it during harsh weather. For users who want flexibility and do not want to struggle with heavy furniture, Product B is the superior choice. The lighter frame makes it much more manageable for everyday adjustments.
Cushion Thickness
Both sofas offer thick cushions for comfort, but they differ slightly in dimension. Product A features a 6-inch thick seat cushion filled with high-density sponge. This extra inch provides a plush, sinking feeling that supports your muscles. Product B has a 5-inch thick cushion. While slightly thinner, it uses double-layer high-resilience sponge with a wave-shaped decompression design. This construction aims to prevent collapsing over time. If you prioritize maximum softness and depth, Product A’s 6-inch cushion is better. If you prefer a firmer, supportive feel that maintains its shape, Product B’s design is effective.
Seating Capacity
Both products are designed for two people. Product A is a 2-seat loveseat with a seating capacity of 2 persons. Product B is a 2-seat sofa with a seating capacity of 2 seats. The dimensions confirm this. Product A measures 51.77 inches in length, offering a standard loveseat width. Product B measures 50 inches in width, providing a slightly wider seat area per person. Both are suitable for couples or two adults. There is no practical difference in capacity. You can comfortably seat two people on either model. The choice here depends on your preference for seat width versus overall frame length.
Fabric Material
Both sofas use Olefin fabric for the cushions. Product A describes its Olefin fabric as soft, breathable, and more resistant to fading and UV rays than ordinary polyester. The covers are waterproof and removable for washing. Product B also uses top-quality Olefin fabric, claiming it is stain-resistant, easy to clean, and has a UPF62+ rating. It states the fabric will not fade for ten years. Both options provide durable, weather-resistant upholstery. Olefin is a standard for outdoor furniture due to its durability and quick-drying properties. Neither product offers a superior fabric type. You get reliable, low-maintenance fabric on both sides.

Frequently asked questions
Is wicker or aluminum patio furniture heavier?
Wicker sofas are significantly heavier than aluminum options. The Natural Expressions wicker loveseat weighs 107 pounds, making it a stable, fixed seating choice. In contrast, the Aoxun aluminum sofa weighs only 40 pounds. This lighter weight makes the aluminum model easier to move around your patio space.
Which material is better for small patios?
Wicker is often better for small patios due to its compact design. The Natural Expressions loveseat is rated for small spaces and offers durable, fixed seating. Its 13.4-inch depth creates a cozy fit. Aluminum sofas like the Aoxun model are wider, measuring 50 inches across, which requires more floor space.
Do wicker and aluminum sofas rust?
Aluminum frames do not rust, making them highly durable for outdoor use. The Aoxun sofa features a powder-coated aluminum frame that resists corrosion. Wicker frames often use steel cores, which are also treated to resist weather. However, aluminum generally offers superior long-term resistance to moisture damage compared to steel-based wicker.
Which patio sofa is easier to clean?
Aluminum sofas are generally easier to clean due to their smooth surfaces. The Aoxun model features UV-resistant fabric that wipes down quickly. Wicker furniture has a woven texture that can trap dirt and debris in the gaps. You may need a brush to clean the crevices of the Natural Expressions wicker loveseat effectively.
Can I leave wicker or aluminum furniture outside in rain?
Both materials are designed for outdoor use, but aluminum handles moisture better. The Aoxun aluminum sofa is built to withstand rain without degrading. The wicker loveseat is also durable but benefits from covers during heavy storms. Both options include weather-resistant cushions to protect against moisture and UV damage.
Which sofa offers more comfortable seating?
The Aoxun aluminum sofa offers wider, more spacious seating. It measures 50 inches wide, allowing adults to stretch out comfortably. The Natural Expressions wicker loveseat is narrower, measuring 26.4 inches in length. It is designed for two people in a tighter arrangement, prioritizing frame strength over expansive seating space.
